With the TV cameras omnipresent and changing weather conditions aplenty, this week’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am provided ample opportunity for golf’s A-List to show off an array of new Spring looks against the backdrop of the Monterey Peninsula.

Here, we take a look at our favourite three from the past weekend…

Phil Mickleson came out on top of the leaderboard this week, and he also kept himself near the top of the trendy tour rankings, with a simple yet classic outfit. Lefty evoked memories of the great Gary Player, plumping for an all-black ensemble to coincide with his sublime final-round performance on Sunday.

A dip in form meant he lost out to his old adversary on Sunday, but Tiger Woods was in top form when it comes to trend. The blustery Pebble Beach setting meant Tiger’s trademark red polo was hardly visible, as he covered it with much-needed early Spring layers. This gilet-style outer layer showed that the former world number one is not against trying new things with his on-course attire, and we at TrendyGolf applaud that.

Meanwhile, days after announcing his move to Cobra Puma equipment, Rickie Fowler was rocking a predictably bold look for his Pebble crusade. The 23-year-old Californian star may have missed the cut in his home state, but he certainly looked the part (questionable facial hair aside!) with this all lime combination.

Today TrendyGolf offers a hearty congratulations to J.Lindeberg tour star Robert Rock, who tamed the Tiger in landing his biggest career win to date at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship yesterday.

The 34-year-old from Staffordshire, England, held off former World No.1 Tiger Woods, and resurgent US Open champ Rory McIlroy, to take his second ever Tour title and a tidy New Year’s bonus of €347,024.

“I was just very happy to be playing in the same group as Tiger, that in itself was an honour,” said Rock, who was selling Mars bars in the pro shop at his local club less than a decade ago, while Tiger was winning Major after Major. “But to have won here today is incredible, I think it will take a few days to sink in.”

Rock, who was ranked 117th in the world before last week, has now risen to 55th in the rankings, and second in the Race To Dubai. He will be harbouring dreams of Ryder Cup involvement after his nerves proved strong and resolute among a high-class field in Abu Dhabi.

The J.Lindeberg player, who is much-loved among fellow Tour professionals for his laid back attitude, down-to-earth demeanour, and refusal to wear a cap, is well known for his classic sartorial style on the links.

Having joined forces with JL early in his Tour career, Rock has emerged as a cool and classy operator, with a styling agenda that places an emphasis on elegance and sophistication, rather than elaborate cuts and colors.

Puma Golf’s Rickie Fowler has put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him use Cobra equipment to match his Puma apparel this season.

The 21-year-old USA Ryder Cup had previously used Titleist sticks for the duration of his pro career to date, but now joins the amalgamated Cobra-Puma golf brand, in a move that sends a marker out to the rest of the golf industry.

“I am so excited to have the Cobra sticks in my bag and be a full part of the Cobra Puma Golf team,” said Fowler.

Having merged companies two years ago, it has always been a goal for Cobra-Puma golf to combine equipment and apparel tour ambassadors into one contract, asserting the brand message universally, and Fowler provides the first major example of such ambition.

Alongside the arrival of Fowler, Cobra-Puma have also launched a new range of AMP clubs – complete with modern design and orange colour schemes: a match-made for Rickie.

“I’ve been hitting the Cobra AMP driver great,” he admitted. “I’m getting a lot more distance and the orange details look really fresh. I can’t wait to get out at Torrey Pines and put them into play.”

To celebrate Fowler’s signature, and the launch of the new AMP range, Cobra-Puma will be hosting a series of ‘Orange-Out’ events in the coming weeks, due to take place at Tour events, retailers and at this week’s PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando Florida.
