INTERVIEW WITH STEPHEN MALBON
Where did the idea of Malbon Golf come from? How did it start? When?
The cool thing about Malbon is that it was really a brand before we ever sold any products. I've always loved golf. So much that I would find old, vintage pictures of Lee Trevino and Johnny Miller and post them on his Instagram. As the golf-inspired pictures started to flood my feed, my friends told me they didn't care about golf and that they were more interested in seeing pictures of me and my family. So I made the @malbongolf Instagram and followed 1,000 golf accounts and companies - in my free time, I'd switch Instagram accounts and fully geek out on the golf only feed! The shop has been around since March 2017 so it's all fairly new... I'd say this was going down about 3-4 years ago.
What is Malbon Golf?
Malbon Golf is a golf-inspired, men's luxury brand meant to blur the lines between country club and street culture.

Authentic. Thoughtful. Different.
Where does your fashion inspiration come from?
Our fashion inspiration comes from many different places. I think that we get tagged with "the (insert streetwear brand here) of golf" a lot... In reality, we are pulling from so many of our various backgrounds, it's pretty hard to pin down. Some of us are really into the hip-hop and street art side of things while some of us are paying attention to runway and couture. But the common denominator is still golf. What the greats like Gary Player and Tom Watson are consistently on our mood boards.
What makes Malbon Golf unique and different from other golf brands?
What are your plans for the future?
Expansion, really. The brand has been on full turbo really since April and it's not slowing down. There are talks of new stores and more collaborations - you'll just have to wait and see!
What projects are you working on now?
Nike Vol. 2 as well as some very cool user experience activations that can be seen at future tour events.

"Pray for the Youth" - our collaboration with Nike is all about inspiring a younger demographic to be a part of the greatest game in the world. Golf is often too serious with very high barriers to entry. We partnered with Nike to create product and tell the story of the new golfer - someone that is not afraid to be comfortable with who they are.
Where do you see the brand going?
I see the brand continuing this current pace we're at until the PGA show in Orlando... then, it's blastoff

TRENDYGOLF. And, all of the other brands that inspire us every day.
