Winner's Circle | Max Homa

PGA Tour stars were put to the challenge this past weekend as one of The Riviera Country Club’s most natural defenders reared its head causing a stoppage in play due to swirling winds up to 40 mph in Los Angeles during Saturday’s third-round of the Genesis Invitational. A star-studded leaderboard expected only three-hour delay but play never resumed after tour officials determined there would not be enough daylight to complete the third round. Los Angeles native Max Homa outlasted Tony Finau with some clutch shots down the stretch along with some luck along the way.

Before the third-round weather delay, Homa striped a 222-yard approach shot to a fairly safe spot on the green which ultimately rolled to inches from the hole with a bit of help from the gusting winds.   Homa, who dreamed of competing in this event as a kid, fired a final round 66 to force a playoff with Tony Finau who now has (8) 2nd place finishes to accompany his lone PGA Tour title.
