The latest release from Nike Golf has created a different buzz than the earlier product drops. With fashion trends on the links shifting towards retrofitting popular footwear like Air Max and Jordan Brand shoes for golf performance, this new release is an original design that comes from the mind and swing of a familiar face.
In late November of 2017, current #3 world ranked Brooks Koepka approached Nike with the request to build a pair of running shoes in which he could play a full round. Koepka is famous for practicing in Nike running shoes and set the internet on fire when he sported a customized pair of Nike Air Max 90 OFF-WHITE at the 2019 Tour Championship. The original request from 2017 combined with Koepka testing out the customized shoe in competitive play has resulted in the new Nike Air Zoom Infinity Tour.
The multi-material design has a waterproof Flyknit upper, a Nike Zoom Stroble plate for structure and comfort, a React midsole for energy return, more hex-shaped Zoom Air pods in the heel and forefoot, and a traction-heavy outsole to provide stability through even the most violent of swings. The result is a shoe that enables Koepka to swing even faster than he could in the Tour Premiere model he wore when he won three previous majors. The white/black colorway will be the first release and we'll all have to stay tuned to see what additional colorways Nike will unveil this season.
